Patricia Young is a wife in a biracial marriage, mother of two children, one being a biracial child, author, and inclusion and diversity advocate whose message is teaching children of all races about self-love and compassion. Her mission is to reinforce the beauty of being uniquely made.

Born in Jamaica and raised in The Bronx, Patricia understands racism. However, it wasn’t until she had a biracial child that she fully experienced the effects of skin color. “While my son was in grade school, he was teased because his skin was perceived as being too dark, and now my daughter is being teased because her skin isn’t black enough,” Patricia explained.

Her first book Conversations With Samantha, Love Your Skin was birthed from nightly conversations with her now seven-year-old daughter, Samantha. Their collective experiences as an interracial family inspired her writing and she is currently working on book #2.

“My hope is for children of all races to read my book and learn to love who they are.”
